तमाद्रवन्तं प्रगृहीतचक्रं दृष्टवा देवं शान्तनवस्तदानीम् | असम्भ्रमं तद् विचकर्ष दोर्भ्या महाभनुर्गाण्डिवतुल्यघोषम्
tam ādravantaṃ pragṛhītacakraṃ dṛṣṭvā devaṃ śāntanavas tadānīm | asambhramaṃ tad vicakarṣa dorbhyā mahādhanuḥ gāṇḍīvatulyaghoṣam ||
சக்கரத்தை ஏந்தி தன் மீது வேகமாக பாய்ந்து வரும் தெய்வத்தைப் பார்த்தும், அந்த வேளையில் சாந்தனுவின் மகன் பீஷ்மன் சிறிதும் அச்சமோ கலக்கமோ அடையவில்லை. இரு கரங்களாலும், காந்தீவம் போன்ற ஆழ்ந்த முழக்கமுடைய தன் மாபெரும் வில்லை அமைதியாக இழுத்தான்.
