सम्मोहोऊज्ञानमत्याग: कर्मणामविनिर्णय: । स्वप्न: स्तम्भो भयं लोभ: स्वत: सुकृतदूषणम्
vāyudeva uvāca | sammoho 'jñānam atyāgaḥ karmaṇām avinirṇayaḥ | svapnaḥ stambho bhayaṁ lobhaḥ svataḥ sukṛtadūṣaṇam | tatra tatra niyamyante sarve te tāmasā guṇāḥ |
வாயு கூறினார்— மயக்கம், அறியாமை, துறவின்மை, செயல்களைத் தீர்மானிக்க இயலாமை, உறக்கம்-சோர்வு, மன உறைப்பு, அச்சம், பேராசை, தன் நற்காரியங்களில்கூட குறை காணும் பழக்கம்— இவை அனைத்தும் தமோகுணத்தின் அடையாளங்கள்; இவற்றின் ஆட்சியிலேயே மனிதன் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கட்டுப்பட்டு நிற்கின்றான்.
