धृतराष्ट्रस्य सत्कारः — Dhṛtarāṣṭra Honored in the Post-war Court
यथा पुत्रवियुक्तो5यं न किंचिद् दुःखमाप्नुयात्
yathā putraviyukto ’yaṃ na kiṃcid duḥkham āpnuyāt
மகனை இழந்த இந்த மனிதன் எவ்விதத் துயரத்திலும் ஆழாதிருக்கட்டும்.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse voices an ethical wish rooted in compassion: even amid separation and loss, one should seek (and wish for others) freedom from overwhelming grief, emphasizing humane concern for the suffering of the bereaved.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana expresses a benedictive hope regarding a person who has been separated from his son—praying that he may not experience sorrow—framing the scene in terms of pity and emotional relief.
