Bhūmi-dānasya Māhātmya
The Pre-eminence of Land-Gift
अतीतानागते चोभे पितृवंशं च भारत । तारयेद् वृक्षरोपी च तस्माद् वक्षांश्ष रोपयेत्
atītānāgate cobhe pitṛvaṁśaṁ ca bhārata | tārayet vṛkṣaropī ca tasmād vṛkṣāṁś ca ropayet bharatanandana ||
ஓ பாரதா! மரம் நடுபவன் கடந்துபோன முன்னோர்களையும், இனி வரவிருக்கும் சந்ததியையும்—இருவரையும், மேலும் முழு பித்ருவம்சத்தையும் கரையேற்றுவான். ஆகவே, ஓ பரதகுல நந்தனே, மரங்களை நிச்சயமாக நட வேண்டும்।
