महारथश्न राजन्य एष्टव्य: शत्रुतापन: । सबको यह इच्छा करनी चाहिये कि राष्ट्रमें ब्रह्मतेजसे सम्पन्न पवित्र ब्राह्मण उत्पन्न हो और शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले महारथी क्षत्रियकी उत्पत्ति हो
mahārathaś ca rājan ya eṣṭavyaḥ śatrutāpanaḥ | sarveṣāṃ eṣā icchā kartavyā yadrāṣṭre brahmatejasā sampannaḥ pavitraḥ brāhmaṇaḥ prajāyeta, śatrūṇāṃ santāpadātā mahārathī kṣatriyaś ca prajāyeta ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—ஓ அரசே! பகைவரைச் சுட்டெரிக்கும் மகாரதக் க்ஷத்திரியன் தோன்றுவதும் வேண்டத்தக்கதே. அனைவரும் விரும்ப வேண்டியது இதுவே: நாட்டில் பிரம்மதேஜஸால் நிறைந்த தூய பிராமணன் பிறக்க வேண்டும்; அதேபோல் பகைவரைத் துன்புறுத்தும் வல்ல மகாரதக் க்ஷத்திரியனும் பிறக்க வேண்டும்.
