अष्टावक्र उवाच नास्ति स्वतन्त्रता स्त्रीणामस्वतन्त्रा हि योषित: । प्रजापतिमतं होतन्न स्त्री स्वातन्तद्रयमहति
aṣṭāvakra uvāca nāsti svatantratā strīṇām asvatantrā hi yoṣitaḥ | prajāpati-mataṃ hy etan na strī svātantryam arhati ||
அஷ்டாவக்ரர் கூறினார்— பத்திரே! பெண்களுக்கு தனித்த சுதந்திரம் இல்லை; பெண்கள் சார்ந்தவர்களாகவே கருதப்படுகின்றனர். பிரஜாபதியின் கருத்தின்படி, பெண் முழு சுதந்திரத்தில் வாழத் தகுதியற்றவள்.
