मणिमन्थे<थ शैले वै पुरा सम्पूजितो मया । वर्षायुतसहस्राणां सहस्नं शतमेव च

வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—முன்னொரு காலத்தில் மணிமந்தம் என்னும் மலையில் நான் மகாதேவரை முழு மரியாதையுடனும் பக்தியுடனும் வழிபட்டேன். ஆயிரமாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளும், மேலும் இலட்சம் ஆண்டுகள் வரையிலும், அந்த வழிபாட்டிலேயே நான் நிலைத்திருந்தேன்.
