मुज्च भार्यामुतथ्यस्य कस्मात् त्वं हृतवानसि । “वरुण! तुम मेरे कहनेसे मेरी पत्नीको छोड़ दो। तुमने क्यों उसका अपहरण किया है? तुम लोगोंके लिये लोकपाल बनाये गये हो
muñca bhāryām utathyasya kasmāt tvaṁ hṛtavān asi
“உதத்யரின் மனைவியை விடுவிப்பாயாக. நீ ஏன் அவளைப் பறித்துச் சென்றாய்? நீங்கள் உலகங்களைப் பாதுகாக்க நியமிக்கப்பட்ட லோகபாலர்கள்; சமூக ஒழுங்கை அழிப்பவர்கள் அல்ல. சோமன் தன் மகளைக் எனக்குத் தந்தான்; அவள் என் தர்மபத்னி. அப்படியிருக்க இன்று நீ அவளை எவ்வாறு அபகரித்தாய்?” உதத்யரின் சொல்லின்படி நாரதர் நீரின் அதிபதி வருணனிடம் இவ்வாறு கூறினார்—“உதத்யரின் பெண்ணை விடுவிக்கவும்; ஏன் அவளை அபகரித்தீர்?”
