अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
उत्पत्तौ च विनाशे च कारण य॑ विदुर्बुधा: । देवासुरमुनीनां च परं यस्मान्न विद्यते
utpattau ca vināśe ca kāraṇaṁ yad vidur budhāḥ | devāsura-munīnāṁ ca paraṁ yasmān na vidyate ||
உலகின் தோற்றத்திற்கும் அழிவிற்கும் காரணம் என ஞானிகள் அறிந்ததும், தேவர்கள்–அசுரர்கள்–முனிவர்கள் அனைவரிடத்திலும் அவரை விட உயர்ந்தவர் எவரும் இல்லாததும் ஆகிய அந்த பரம்பொருளிடமே நான் சரண் அடைகிறேன்.
