स शूद्र: संशिततपा: सत्यवादी जितेन्द्रिय: । शुश्रूषुरतिथिं प्राप्त तप: संचिनुते महत्
sa śūdraḥ saṃśitatapāḥ satyavādī jitendriyaḥ | śuśrūṣur atithiṃ prāptaṃ tapaḥ saṃcinute mahat ||
தபத்தில் கட்டுப்பட்டவனாய், உண்மையுரைப்பவனாய், இంద్రியங்களை வென்றவனாய் உள்ள அந்த சூத்ரன், வந்தடைந்த விருந்தினரை மரியாதையுடன் சேவிப்பதால் பெருந்தபப் புண்ணியத்தைச் சேர்த்துக் கொள்கிறான். அவனுக்கு சேவையே தர்மமாகி கடுந்தபமாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது।
