कथं केभ्यश्न धर्म्य च दानं दातव्यमिष्यते । कै: कारणै: कतिविध॑ श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वतः
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | kathaṁ kebhyaś ca dharmyaṁ ca dānaṁ dātavyam iṣyate | kaiḥ kāraṇaiḥ kati-vidhaṁ śrotum icchāmi tattvataḥ ||
யுதிஷ்டிரன் கூறினான்—தர்மப்படி தானம் எவ்வாறு, யாருக்கு அளிப்பது முறையெனக் கருதப்படுகிறது? எந்த காரணங்களுக்காக அளிக்க வேண்டும்? தானம் எத்தனை வகையாகப் பிரிக்கப்படுகிறது? இவற்றை அனைத்தையும் உண்மையாய் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன்.
