भीष्म उवाच ज्येष्ठवत्‌ तात वर्तस्व ज्येष्ठोडसि सततं भवान्‌ । गुरोर्गरीयसी वृत्तिया च शिष्यस्यथ भारत

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | jyeṣṭhavat tāta vartasva jyeṣṭho 'si satataṁ bhavān | guror garīyasī vṛttir yā ca śiṣyasya tathā bhārata ||

Translation

பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—குழந்தையே, பாரதனந்தனே, நீ சகோதரர்களில் மூத்தவன்; ஆகையால் எப்போதும் மூத்தவனுக்குரிய முறையில் நடந்து கொள். குரு சீடனிடம் மரியாதைமிகு, கனத்த, காப்பாற்றும் பண்புடன் எவ்வாறு நடப்பாரோ, அதுபோலவே நீயும் உன் சகோதரர்களிடம் நடந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும், ஓ பாரதா.
