Śṛṅgī’s Curse on King Parikṣit
Parikṣit–Śṛṅgī–Takṣaka Causal Link
darśayanto bahūn doṣān pretya ceha ca dāruṇān | hetubhiḥ kāraṇaiś caiva yathā yajño bhaven na saḥ ||
That an act called a yajña must be evaluated by its consequences and moral coherence: if it produces grave harms in this life and the next, reasoned analysis can show it is not a legitimate dharmic sacrifice.
Śeṣa declares an intention to refute a proposed yajña by presenting logical reasons and causal arguments, emphasizing that the undertaking would lead to severe faults both here and after death, and therefore should not proceed as a true sacrifice.
