ततो5शनिमुचो घोरांस्तडित्स्तनितनि:स्वनान् | तद्विघातार्थमसृजदर्जुनो 5प्यस्त्रमुत्तमम्
tato ’śanimuco ghorāṁs taḍit-stanita-niḥsvanān | tad-vighātārtham asṛjad arjuno ’py astram uttamam vāyavyam ||
அப்போது மின்னலின் ஒளியும் இடியின் முழக்கமும் கொண்ட பயங்கர மேகங்கள் பூமியில் வஜ்ரங்களை வீசத் தொடங்கின. அந்தத் தாக்குதலைத் தடுக்க, அஸ்திர-பிரத்யஸ்திர அறிவில் தேர்ந்த அர்ஜுனன் மந்திரத்தால் அபிமந்திரித்து ‘வாயவ்ய’ எனும் சிறந்த அஸ்திரத்தைச் செலுத்தினான்; அதனால் இந்திரனின் வஜ்ரத்தினதும் மேகங்களினதும் வலிமையும் ஒளியும் அழிந்தன.
