Pramlaucā’s appearance and Ruci’s marriage to Māninī
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca / tatheti tena sāpyuktā tasmāttoyādvapuṣmatīm / uddadhāra tataḥ kanyāṃ māninīṃ nāma nāmataḥ
Mārkaṇḍeya
Concept: Events unfold through assent and ordained sequence; naming (nāma) stabilizes identity within cosmic narrative.
Vedantic Theme: Nāma-rūpa crystallization: from undifferentiated potential (water) to defined form and name, under the governance of order.
Application: When commitments are made, follow through with clarity; ‘naming’ one’s intentions (explicit commitments) helps manifest and stabilize outcomes.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: waterbody/river
Related Themes: Garuda Purana narrative transitions where consent leads to immediate manifestation (contextual motif)
This verse marks a miraculous origin motif—life or a destined figure manifested from water—framed as part of Mārkaṇḍeya’s authoritative narration.
It does not address the soul’s post-death journey here; it is a narrative passage describing the appearance of Māninī, not an afterlife or Yama-related teaching.
The verse underscores receptivity to dharmic instruction (“so be it”) and faith in higher causality—encouraging humility and right consent when guided by wise counsel.
