किं बहूक्त्या, आत्मजश्रेष्ठ! गच्छ तत्राशु मा चिरम्। सर्वथा प्रसादय महादेवं सकलेश्वरम्॥
Suta Goswami (narrating the instruction given within the story-context of Śatarudrasaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Devotional urgency: immediate approach and propitiation (prasādana) of Mahādeva is presented as the decisive step for removing bondage and gaining auspicious outcomes.
It teaches urgency and single-pointed surrender: when liberation and grace are sought, one should not remain in doubt or delay, but directly take refuge in Mahādeva, the supreme Pati (Lord) who alone loosens pāśa (bondage) and uplifts the paśu (individual soul).
“Prasādaya Mahādevaṃ” implies approaching Shiva in an accessible, worshipful form—most classically the Śiva-liṅga—through pūjā, prayer, and repentance, seeking His prasāda (grace). Saguna worship becomes the doorway to realizing Shiva as Sakaleśvara, the all-governing reality.
The practical takeaway is prompt Shiva-upāsanā: begin japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), offer water and bilva to the liṅga, apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma) with reverence, and cultivate humility—these are direct ways to “prasādaya” Mahādeva.
