The Monsoon Description and Rama’s Counsel on Timing
अयं स कालस्सम्प्राप्तस्समयोऽद्य जलागमः।सम्पश्य त्वं नभो मेघैस्संवृतं गिरिसन्निभैः।।
ayaṃ sa kālaḥ samprāptaḥ samayo ’dya jalāgamaḥ | sampaśya tvaṃ nabho meghaiḥ saṃvṛtaṃ giri-sannibhaiḥ ||
अयं स कालः सम्प्राप्तः—अद्य जलागमसमयः। पश्य, नभः गिरिसन्निभैः मेघैः सर्वतः संवृतम्॥
'Desirous of living in Manasa lake swans have set out on their journey and the chakravaka birds are now united with their mates. The carts move not on the roads damaged by heavy rains.
Dharma includes acting with awareness of kāla (the right time). Rama’s observation teaches that wise action begins with clear recognition of circumstances—seasons, conditions, and readiness.
In Kishkindha, Rama points out the onset of the rainy season to Lakshmana, marking a shift in conditions that affects travel and planned efforts.
Prudence and attentiveness (viveka): Rama models careful perception of the world before deciding the next step.
