वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage underscores kṣatriya responsibility: rulers and their kin must be equipped and ready to protect the kingdom. Splendid armor is not mere ornament; it symbolizes disciplined preparedness in service of public safety and royal duty.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Śatānīka, King Virāṭa’s beloved brother, takes up or brings forward a hero-worthy, shining, ornate armor—specifically a golden cuirass reinforced with inner lattices of diamond and iron.
