Draupadī–Bhīmasena Dialogue on Suffering, Kāla, and Daiva
यदा प्रह्ृष्ट: सम्राट् त्वां संयोधयति कुण्जरै: । हसन्त्यन्त:पुरे नार्यो मम तूद्धिजते मनः
yadā prahṛṣṭaḥ samrāṭ tvāṃ saṃyodhayati kuñjaraiḥ | hasanty antaḥpure nāryo mama tūddhijate manaḥ ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच—यदा प्रहृष्टः सम्राट् त्वां संयोधयति कुञ्जरैः । हसन्त्यन्तःपुरे नार्यो मम तूद्धिजते मनः ॥

Ridicule and entertainment built on another’s forced struggle—especially under royal power—can be ethically corrosive; it provokes inner resentment and violates the dignity owed to persons.
The narrator describes a scene where a king, in high spirits, has someone made to fight or contend with elephants as a spectacle, while the palace women laugh; witnessing this, the speaker’s mind becomes agitated and offended.
