वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights royal vigilance and proper protocol: when unfamiliar persons appear near the palace, the king responds with cautious inquiry rather than rash action, reflecting responsible governance (rājadharma) and orderly investigation.
A group arrives at the cowshed close to the palace and stands there. The king notices them from afar, becomes surprised, and dispatches attendants to approach them and find out who they are and why they have come.
