Educational Q&A

Purification is achieved through disciplined conduct: bathing (external cleanliness) combined with tarpaṇa to gods and ancestors (reverent duty and gratitude). Such dharmic observance is said to remove sin and lead to heavenly merit.

The speaker describes a prescribed act at a particular place: take well-water, bathe to become pure, then perform tarpaṇa for the gods and the ancestors. The verse states the resulting fruit—release from sin and attainment of heaven.
