Draupadī and Satyabhāmā on ethical household conduct
bhānor bhāryā suprajā tu bṛhaddhāsā tu sūryajā | asūjetāṁ tu ṣaṭ putrān śṛṇu tāsāṁ prajāvidhim ||
The verse frames genealogy as a meaningful narrative of order (prajā-vidhi): lineage is not mere biology but a structured account that situates persons within a larger cosmic and moral continuity, conveyed through attentive listening to authoritative tradition.
Mārkaṇḍeya introduces Bhānu’s two wives—Suprajā and Bṛhaddhāsā (identified as Sūrya’s daughter)—and announces that they bore six sons; he then signals a forthcoming description of how their descendants proliferated.
