Draupadī and Satyabhāmā on ethical household conduct
tataḥ sviṣṭaṁ bhaved ājyaṁ sviṣṭakṛt paramas tu saḥ |
A rite is not merely an external act; it is ‘well-offered’ only when the divine principle that perfects and carries the oblation (Agni as Sviṣṭakṛt) is properly honored—emphasizing correctness, reverence, and the completion of duty so that intended fruits arise in a dharmic way.
Mārkaṇḍeya is explaining the sacrificial theology of offerings: after the proper invocation and performance, the ghee-oblation is considered successfully offered because Agni—praised as Sviṣṭakṛt, the supreme accomplisher—makes the offering effective and brings the sacrifice to fulfillment.
