वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical prudence in the face of massed hostility: when opponents are united, exhilarated, and indifferent to their own lives, entering their midst is judged unwise. It frames courage as needing discernment, not mere rashness.
Vaiśampāyana describes the Kaurava-aligned warriors rallying with Duryodhana, eager to fight the Pāṇḍavas. He then addresses Kṛṣṇa (Dāśārha), cautioning that going into the middle of such adversaries does not seem proper or safe.
