Sañjaya’s Report
यदा द्रष्टा भीमसेनं रथस्थं गदाहस्तं क्रोधविषं वमन्तम् । अमर्षणं पाण्डवं भीमवेगं तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
yadā draṣṭā bhīmasenaṁ rathasthaṁ gadāhastaṁ krodhaviṣaṁ vamantam | amarṣaṇaṁ pāṇḍavaṁ bhīmavegaṁ tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro 'nutapsyate ||
सञ्जय उवाच—यदा द्रष्टा भीमसेनं रथस्थं गदाहस्तं क्रोधविषं वमन्तम्। अमर्षणं पाण्डवं भीमवेगं तदा युद्धे धार्तराष्ट्रोऽनुतप्स्यत्॥
संजय उवाच
Unchecked anger and pride lead to ruin and later remorse; the verse warns that provoking a righteous but formidable opponent brings consequences that cannot be undone once war begins.
Sañjaya foretells Duryodhana’s reaction in battle: when he sees Bhīma—mace in hand, blazing with wrath and unstoppable force—he will regret having driven events toward war, realizing the terrible outcome it will entail.
