Sanatsujāta–Dhṛtarāṣṭra Saṃvāda: Pramāda as Mṛtyu
Chapter 42
तस्मात् क्षत्रिय मा मंस्था जल्पितेनैव वै द्विजम् । य एव सत्यान्नापैति स ज्ञेयो ब्राह्मणस्त्वया,इसलिये महाराज! केवल बातें बनानेसे ही किसीको ब्राह्मण न मान लेना। जो सत्यस्वरूप परमात्मासे कभी पृथक् नहीं होता, उसीको तुम ब्राह्मण समझो
tasmāt kṣatriya mā maṁsthā jalpitenaiva vai dvijam | ya eva satyān nāpaiti sa jñeyo brāhmaṇas tvayā ||
तस्मात् क्षत्रिय मा मंस्था जल्पितेनैव वै द्विजम् । य एव सत्यान्नापैति स ज्ञेयो ब्राह्मणस्त्वया ॥
सनत्युजात उवाच
Brahminhood is not validated by eloquence or mere verbal display; it is recognized by unwavering establishment in Satya—truth as the highest reality and ethical steadfastness.
In the Sanatsujātīya section of Udyoga Parva, Sanatsujāta instructs the king on spiritual and ethical discernment, redefining true Brahmin status as inner realization and fidelity to Truth rather than external markers like speech.
