rājā lakṣaṇasampannastrailokyasyāpi yo bhavet | śiṣyaste śāsitā soḍastu dhṛtarāṣṭra yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
Even the most qualified ruler must submit to discipline and wise counsel; legitimate power is sustained by self-restraint and governance according to dharma, not by attachment or favoritism.
Vidura is advising Dhṛtarāṣṭra during the tense pre-war negotiations, urging him to control himself and to treat Yudhiṣṭhira as a governable, teachable figure—implying that reconciliation and righteous rule are still possible if Dhṛtarāṣṭra acts with restraint.
