Educational Q&A

The passage highlights the ethical danger of prideful, time-bound vows of mass destruction in war. It implicitly contrasts such exterminatory intent with dharma, which demands restraint, right intention, and viewing battle as a grievous necessity rather than a boastful project.

Yudhiṣṭhira reports what he has heard: Duryodhana claimed he could destroy the Pāṇḍava army within a month, and Droṇa likewise pledged to do so in the same time. The statement frames the escalating martial commitments of the Kaurava side.
