Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 130: Kuntī’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Daṇḍanīti
अत एकत्रिशदधिकशततमो< ध्याय: भगवान् श्रीकृष्णका विश्वरूप दर्शन कराकर कौरवसभासे प्रस्थान वैशम्पायन उवाच विदुरेणैवमुक्तस्तु केशव: शत्रुपूगहा | दुर्योधन धार्तराष्ट्रमभ्यभाषत वीर्यवान्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं-जनमेजय! विदुरजीके ऐसा कहनेपर शत्रुसमूहका संहार करनेवाले शक्तिशाली श्रीकृष्णने धृतराष्ट्रपुत्र दुर्योधनसे इस प्रकार कहा--:दुर्बुद्धि दुर्योधन! तू मोहवश जो मुझे अकेला मान रहा है और इसलिये मेरा तिरस्कार करके जो मुझे पकड़ना चाहता है, यह तेरा अज्ञान है
vaiśampāyana uvāca | vidureṇaivam uktas tu keśavaḥ śatrupūgahaḥ | duryodhanaṃ dhārtarāṣṭram abhyabhāṣata vīryavān | durbuddhe duryodhana! tvaṃ mohavaśād yo mām ekākinaṃ manyase, tasmād avajñāya māṃ grahītuṃ icchasi—tad ajñānam ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच—विदुरेणैवमुक्तस्तु केशवः शत्रुपूगहा । दुर्योधनं धार्तराष्ट्रमभ्यभाषत वीर्यवान् ॥ दुर्बुद्धे दुर्योधन! यन्मोहादेकाकिनं मां मन्यसे, तेनैव मां परिभूय ग्रहीतुं चिकीर्षसि—तदेतत्तवाज्ञानम् ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Arrogance rooted in delusion mistakes true strength for weakness. Kṛṣṇa identifies Duryodhana’s intent to seize him as born of ajñāna (ignorance): contempt for dharma and failure to recognize the larger reality—moral and divine—behind apparent circumstances.
After Vidura’s words, Kṛṣṇa turns to Duryodhana in the Kaurava assembly and rebukes him. Duryodhana is contemplating insulting or even capturing Kṛṣṇa, thinking him ‘alone’; Kṛṣṇa exposes this as delusion and warns him of his misunderstanding.
