Educational Q&A

The verse highlights legitimate sovereignty as something conferred through consecration (abhiṣeka) and tied to sacred order: rulership is not mere force but an instituted responsibility within a cosmic and moral geography, alongside the presence of ascetic hermitages that represent restraint and dharmic balance.

Yuparaṇa is describing notable northern sacred sites to Gālava: Mount Kailāsa where Kubera was installed as overlord, the beautiful Caitraratha grove, and the nearby Vaikhānasa sages’ hermitage—mapping a mythic landscape and its key inhabitants.
