Gālava’s Despair and Resolve to Seek Viṣṇu
iti śrīmahābhārate udyogaparvaṇi bhagavadyānaparvaṇi gālavacarite ṣaḍadhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches how the Mahābhārata organizes meaning through structure—episodes (like Gālava’s) are embedded within larger moral arcs (the Udyoga Parva’s preparations and attempts at peace). The ethical implication is that individual stories are to be read in the light of the broader dharmic crisis leading toward war.
The text is marking the end of a chapter and identifying its placement: within the Udyoga Parva, specifically the Bhagavad-yāna section, and within the Gālava episode. It functions as a formal closure and locator for recitation and study.
