(Sāntva-Nīti) — The One-Word Principle of Conciliation
bhīṣma uvāca | ity uktaḥ kṛtavān sarvaṃ yathā śakraḥ purodhasā | tathā tvam api kaunteya samyag etat samācara ||
Bhishma urges Yudhiṣṭhira to translate good counsel into lived conduct: just as Indra followed his priest’s instruction without deviation, a righteous king should properly implement wise, soothing guidance rather than merely hearing it.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction to the grieving Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhishma cites a precedent from Indra (Śakra) who acted according to his purohita’s words, and he exhorts Yudhiṣṭhira to do likewise—adopting the advised course in practice.
