Systems of Knowledge and Vyāsa’s Nārāyaṇa-Origin
उवाच स्वस्थं किमपि भूतं तत्राशरीरकम् । “हमलोग तपस्यासे थककर अत्यन्त दुर्बल हो गये थे। उस समय हमलोगोंसे किसी शरीररहित स्वस्थ प्राणी (देवता) ने कहा ।। ५१ ई ।। देव उवाच दृष्टा व: पुरुषा: श्वेता: सर्वेन्द्रियविवर्जिता:
deva uvāca | dṛṣṭā vaḥ puruṣāḥ śvetāḥ sarvendriyavivarjitāḥ |
उवाच स्वस्थं किमपि भूतं तत्राशरीरकम्। देव उवाच दृष्टा वः पुरुषाः श्वेताः सर्वेन्द्रियविवर्जिताः॥

Extraordinary visions arising in severe austerity should be understood as signs of sensory withdrawal and altered states, not as ends in themselves; the seeker must remain grounded in dharma and discernment rather than becoming attached to supernatural experiences.
A divine, bodiless voice addresses the ascetics and identifies what they have seen—white beings lacking sense-faculties—framing their experience within the spiritual consequences of intense tapas and guiding their interpretation of the event.
