Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ordered functioning of the cosmos: specific forces (here, the sixth wind called Parivaha) sustain celestial phenomena such as Soma, who is described as a divine repository of amṛta. It frames natural processes as part of a purposeful, dharma-aligned cosmic order.

In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs on higher principles connected with governance and right order. Here he enumerates and praises a particular cosmic wind—Parivaha—describing its role in nourishing Soma and calling it foremost among victory-bringing forces.
