Yajña-bhāga-vyavasthā and the Pravṛtti–Nivṛtti Framework
śaktenāpi samuddhartuṃ kampitā sābhavat tadā
The line highlights the limits of strength in the face of intense distress: when fear, grief, or shock overwhelms a person, mere capability may not suffice—prompting a dharmic response of patience, gentleness, and compassionate support rather than force.
Bhīṣma describes a moment of acute agitation: a woman (identified by context in the surrounding verses) trembles so violently that even someone strong or competent is unable to lift or steady her at that time.
