व्यास उवाच
A life that abandons dharma and follows desire-driven, harmful behavior leads to painful karmic consequences; after death such people experience intense suffering proportionate to their repeated unrighteous actions.
Vyāsa is describing a class of people characterized by deviation from dharma, abusive speech, and continual engagement in inauspicious acts, and he explains their post-mortem fate: they obtain a torment-bearing body and undergo severe suffering due to many causes rooted in adharma.
