Educational Q&A

The verse links outer religious action (yajña) with inner discipline (yoga): legitimate authority and effective leadership are portrayed as grounded in self-mastery and spiritual strength, not merely in ceremony or force.

Bhishma describes a powerful figure who, after employing yogic power, proceeds to conduct a particular sacrifice, surrounded by a formidable retinue—highlighting both spiritual capability and the public, organized nature of the ritual act.
