भीष्म उवाच एवमुक््त्वा स कौन्तेय वृत्र: प्राणानवासृजत् । योजयित्वा तथा55त्मानं परं स्थानमवाप्तवान्
bhīṣma uvāca evam uktvā sa kaunteya vṛtraḥ prāṇān avāsṛjat | yojayitvā tathātmānaṁ paraṁ sthānam avāptavān ||
भीष्म उवाच—एवमुक्त्वा स कौन्तेय वृत्रः प्राणानवासृजत् । योजयित्वा तथात्मानं परं स्थानमवाप्तवान् ॥
भीष्म उवाच
Even one known as an asura can attain the highest goal through single-pointed devotion and inner union with the Supreme; liberation is linked to the state of consciousness and surrender at the time of death, not merely to birth or social identity.
Bhishma concludes the account by stating that Vritra, after declaring his resolve, relinquished his life-breaths while fixing his inner self on the Supreme Lord, and thereby reached the Lord’s highest abode.
