श्रद्धधाना जितक्रोधा दानशीलानसूयव: । भृतपुत्रा भूतामात्या भृतदारा हानीर्षव:,उनमें श्रद्धा थी। वे क्रोधको जीत चुके थे। वे दानी थे। दूसरोंके गुणोंमें दोषदृष्टि नहीं रखते थे और ईर्ष्यारहित थे। वे स्त्री, पुत्र और मन्त्री आदिका भरण-पोषण करते थे
śraddadhānā jitakrodhā dānaśīlā anasūyavaḥ | bhṛtaputrā bhūtāmātyā bhṛtadārā hānīrṣavāḥ ||
शक्र उवाच—ते श्रद्धधाना जितक्रोधाः, दानशीलाः, अनसूयवः। अनिर्ष्यवः सन्तो भृतान् दारान् पुत्रान् अमात्यांश्च यथोचितं पोषयन्ति स्म।
शक्र उवाच
The verse praises a model of righteous conduct: faith (śraddhā), mastery over anger, habitual generosity, refusal to disparage others’ good qualities, and freedom from envy—paired with responsible support of one’s dependents and public duties.
Śakra (Indra) is describing the character of exemplary people, highlighting their inner discipline and social responsibility as marks of dharmic life, especially in the context of Śānti Parva’s ethical instruction.
