भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma teaches that lasting happiness is best secured by nirveda (disenchantment/dispassion) toward wealth and worldly striving; when hope and anxiety about acquiring gains fall away, the mind becomes calm and one rests in genuine peace.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the means to inner peace after the war; here he emphasizes a practical ethical psychology: frustration with worldly acquisition can mature into detachment, which yields tranquility and contentment.
