निर्वेदोपदेशः (Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking
त॑ काश्यपो<ब्रवीत् प्रीतो नोत्कण्ठां कर्तुमहसि । कृतकार्यो द्विजश्रेष्ठ सद्रव्यो यास्यसे गृहान्
taṁ kāśyapo 'bravīt prīto notkaṇṭhāṁ kartum arhasi | kṛtakāryo dvijaśreṣṭha sadravyo yāsyase gṛhān |
तं काश्यपोऽब्रवीत् प्रीतो नोत्कण्ठां कर्तुमर्हसि । कृतकार्यो द्विजश्रेष्ठ सद्रव्यो यास्यसे गृहान् ॥
भीष्म उवाच
Do not be driven by restless eagerness when the goal can be fulfilled without needless striving; once the purpose is achieved, one should return satisfied, carrying only what is rightly obtained.
Kāśyapa, pleased, reassures a brāhmaṇa addressed as ‘best of the twice-born’ that he need not proceed further; his objective will be met on the spot, and he may go home with wealth, his task completed.
