Educational Q&A

The passage emphasizes that true spiritual authority is marked by purity and inner radiance: ascetic austerity (the antelope-skin garment) is paired with heightened perception (the sun-like forehead eye), suggesting disciplined life and insight as foundations of dharma.

Bhīṣma is describing a formidable, ascetic figure whose appearance is extraordinary—two pure dark-tawny eyes and an additional radiant eye on the forehead—while wearing an antelope-skin garment adorned with golden star-like ornaments.
