शुशुभाते5तिविमले द्वे नेत्रे कृष्णपिड्ले । उसने काले मृगचर्मको वस्त्रके रूपमें धारण कर रक्खा था
śuśubhāte 'tivimale dve netre kṛṣṇapiṅgale | sa kāle mṛgacarmako vastrārūpeṇa dhārayām āsa, yasmin suvarṇanirmitāḥ tārāḥ jaḍitāḥ āsan | sa sva-lalāṭe sūrya-sadṛśaṃ tejasvi netraṃ dhārayām āsa | tat-śeṣe kṛṣṇa-piṅgalavarṇe dve atyanta-nirmale netre ca śobhāṃ prāpnutaḥ |
भीष्म उवाच— अतिविमले द्वे नेत्रे कृष्णपिङ्गले शुशुभाते। स कृष्णमृगचर्म वस्त्ररूपेण धारयामास, यत्र सुवर्णनिर्मिताः तारकासदृशा भूषणाः निबद्धाः। ललाटे च सूर्यसमप्रभं तेजस्वि तृतीयं नेत्रं बिभ्रत्, तदन्ये द्वे कृष्णपिङ्गले नेत्रे निर्मले शोभां प्राप्नुताम्।
भीष्म उवाच
The passage emphasizes that true spiritual authority is marked by purity and inner radiance: ascetic austerity (the antelope-skin garment) is paired with heightened perception (the sun-like forehead eye), suggesting disciplined life and insight as foundations of dharma.
Bhīṣma is describing a formidable, ascetic figure whose appearance is extraordinary—two pure dark-tawny eyes and an additional radiant eye on the forehead—while wearing an antelope-skin garment adorned with golden star-like ornaments.
