Mutual Causality of Ignorance and Greed
tat kṣipraṁ nudate pāpaṁ satkāraṁ labhate tathā | api caina prasīdanti bhūtāni jaḍamūkavat ||

The verse teaches that disciplined spiritual practice (implied in context as mantra-japa, especially the Adhamarṣaṇa) functions as moral purification: it quickly removes pāpa (demerit) and produces satkāra (social and ethical esteem). Inner purity is shown outwardly as a pacifying influence on other beings.
Śaunaka is describing the fruits of a particular dharmic practice taught in the surrounding discussion: the practitioner becomes cleansed of sin, gains respect, and even other creatures become calm and well-disposed toward him, as though rendered non-threatening and silent.
