Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical weight of hidden truths within family and polity: secrecy about kinship can shape fate, intensify tragedy, and leave survivors burdened with remorse and moral reflection after war.

Yudhiṣṭhira laments that Karṇa—his full brother through Kuntī—was killed by Arjuna, and he stresses that this crucial secret of birth was never revealed either by Kuntī or by Karṇa himself.
