अध्याय २२ — अमर्याद-युद्धवर्णन
Unrestrained Battle Description and Śakuni’s Rear Assault
ते च सम्पीडयामासुरिन्द्रियाणीव बालिशम्
te ca sampīḍayāmāsur indriyāṇīva bāliśam
ते च सम्पीडयामासुरिन्द्रियाणीव बालिशम्।
संजय उवाच
The verse uses a moral-psychological simile: uncontrolled senses dominate a foolish person; similarly, in conflict, a vulnerable or unsupported individual can be overwhelmed. It implicitly praises self-restraint (indriya-nigraha) as a safeguard against defeat and humiliation.
Sañjaya describes a moment in the battle where a group closes in on an opponent and crushes him with pressure from all sides, likening their overpowering force to the way the senses can overpower an undiscerning person.
