Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution

Educational Q&A

Adharma—especially repeated, cruel wrongdoing—leads to social and spiritual degradation: the wrongdoer loses the right to live among people and is driven into isolation and suffering as a consequence of karma.

In the aftermath of the night massacre (Sauptika), a condemnation/curse is being pronounced: the offender is declared unfit to remain among humans and is described as wandering in desolate places, marked by a foul, diseased condition.
