Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a social-ethical assumption in royal assemblies: among capable and noble-born, high-minded men, precedence and leadership may naturally emerge, and one may become acknowledged as foremost. It reflects how status, merit, and recognition operate within courtly dharma.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) while speaking about the understanding of the assembly’s noble courtiers: they believe that within such a group it is possible that one person may at some point rise as the superior or most eminent among them.
