Samrāt-Lakṣaṇa and the Counsel to Check Jarāsandha (सम्राट्-लक्षणं जरासन्ध-प्रतिबाधा-परामर्शः)
समारम्भो न शक्योडयमन्यथा कुरुनन्दन । राजसूयश्न कार्त्स्न्येन कर्तु मतिमतां वर,बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेष्ठ कुसनन्दन! ऐसा किये बिना राजसूययज्ञका आयोजन पूर्णरूपसे सफल न हो सकेगा
samārambho na śakyo ’yam anyathā kurunandana | rājasūyaḥ na kārtsnyena kartuṃ matimatāṃ vara ||
समारम्भो न शक्योऽयमन्यथा कुरुनन्दन। राजसूयस्य कार्त्स्न्येन कर्तुं मतिमतां वर॥
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Kṛṣṇa emphasizes necessity: certain dharmic-political goals (like a fully valid Rājasūya) require specific prerequisite actions; one cannot expect complete success while avoiding the required means.
In the context of planning Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya, Kṛṣṇa advises that the enterprise cannot be completed ‘otherwise’; the sacrifice’s full completion depends on following the necessary course of action laid down for such a royal rite.
