Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that intense tapas (austerity and disciplined self-restraint) is ethically potent: those who renounce the body through severe ascetic practice attain an exalted divine realm and remain radiant there, suggesting a karmic linkage between inner discipline and posthumous spiritual status.

Nārada is describing who gains access to a glorious celestial station associated with Indra’s assembly. He includes severe ascetics among those who, after leaving the body, reach that realm and shine there perpetually.
