भीमसेनं महाबाहुं मार्गणै: समवारयन् । निषंगी, कवची, पाशी, दण्डधार, धनु्ग्रह (धनुग्रह), अलोलुप, शल, सन्ध (सत्यसन्ध), वातवेग और सुवर्चा (सुवर्चस)--ये एक साथ आकर भाईकी मृत्युसे दुःखी हो महाबाहु भीमसेनको अपने बाणोंद्वारा रोकने लगे ।।

bhīmasenaṃ mahābāhuṃ mārgaṇaiḥ samavārayan |
niṣaṅgī kavacī pāśī daṇḍadhāro dhanugrahaḥ |
alolupaḥ śalaḥ sandhaḥ satyasandho vātavegaḥ suvarcāś ca—te ekatra samāgatā bhrātṛmaraṇaduḥkhitāḥ mahābāhuṃ bhīmasenaṃ svabāṇair avārayan ||
sa vāryamāṇo viśikhaiḥ samantāt tair mahārathaiḥ |
भीमसेनं महाबाहुं मार्गणैः समवारयन्। निषङ्गी कवची पाशी दण्डधारो धनुग्रहः॥ अलोलुपः शलः सन्धो सत्यसन्धो वातवेगः सुवर्चसश्च—एते समेत्य सहिता भ्रातृव्यसनदुःखिताः। स वार्यमाणो विशिखैः समन्तात्तैर्महारथैः॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how grief and loyalty to kin can rapidly turn into coordinated martial retaliation. It also underscores the battlefield ideal of confronting a formidable opponent collectively and directly, reflecting kṣatriya-duty shaped by bonds of brotherhood and the ethics of retribution in war.
A group of named warriors, distressed by the death of their brother, assemble and simultaneously attack Bhīma, attempting to halt his advance by showering him with arrows from all sides; Bhīma is described as being checked and surrounded by these great chariot-fighters.
